Internet Services

MMU offers broadband internet service by fiber optic cable. Each customer's connection will be limited to the listed speed. Actual speed will vary. Peer-to-peer traffic will be limited to a system-wide total of 2 Mbps from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. Email is available through an email client like Outlook Express or through web mail.

Normal setup fees are $50.

• Account activation fee - $25.
• Typical installation cost is $25. In cases where the fiber drop exceeds 250 feet an additional charge of $0.25 per foot would apply. The customer will need to provide and electrical outlet for the fiber media converter. If a customer wants underground service, they will need to acquire and install the conduit. For customers that want underground service and would like to bury their existing aerial electric service, MMU will supply both conduits; the customer will still be responsible for installing the conduits and any other costs for changing their electric service. Fiber customers may purchase reserved bandwidth at a negotiated rate.

Optional Services

• Extra email boxes: $1 each per month
• Name Service Hosting: One-time charge of $25 per domain for setting up and maintaining DNS information on our servers. Customer is responsible for acquiring and maintaining rights to their domain.
• Web Hosting: 5/10/20 MB space included for tier 1/2/3. No additional setup fee if using a subdomain (www.mmuonline.net/johnqpublic). The name service hosting fee applies if you want to use your own domain (www.johnqpublic.com).
• Point to Point fiber connection: Limited availability. Price varies based on distance.

Internal Wiring

MMU's responsibility stops at the demarcation point which is the media converter for fiber or the radio unit for leased equipment wireless. Wireless customers that purchase or take ownership of the equipment are responsible for all equipment and wiring after the initial installation. Generally, during the initial installation, MMU will connect one customer device to the demarcation point or customer owned radio unit. However, in some cases, the customer will be responsible for all internal connections. In those cases the customer will be informed during the initial site visit.

Effective on billing after 3/1/06 or as current customers are transferred to the new internet service.

MMU reserves the right to limit service to areas that are economical to serve (based solely on MMU's evaluation).
