2019 USDA Broadband Grant Status

Overhead fiber (along US 65 N)

We have started construction in this area. We have pulled in about a mile of fiber and started framing poles for another pull. There are a few things slowing the process down:

Weather - We don't want to tear up any fields, so we stay out if the ground is too soft or too wet.
Easements - We are working on updating a handful of existing easements.
Supplies - The lead times for fiber are a little crazy right now. Some of the fiber we ordered in June hasn't arrived yet. We were able to use some of what we had in inventory to pull what we have so far.

Underground fiber (everywhere else)

We are working with USDA to get final approval for some bid documents to select a contractor to install conduit. We hope we are close to the end of this process. Once the documents are approved, it will take about 6 weeks for potential contractors to respond and for us to select the best response. USDA will have to approve the contract before construction can begin.

2020 USDA Broadband Grant Status

Grant 2 Area

We are in the early stages of paperwork for round 2. Hopefully the contractor selection process will go quicker than round 1 and we can start construction in late 2021.
