"Providing Hometown Reliability"
Units 10 & 11
Units 10 and 11 are 6.3 MW diesel engine generators that were installed in 1990 and 1993. They operate on natural gas and No. 2 oil. Proper startup requires only about 30 minutes. They have the best efficiency of all the Marshall generators. When the price of natural gas is low, we use these for base-load in conjunction with Unit 5. In recent years, gas prices have been higher, so we operate them very little except for summer peak loading. They are the first units we start up to meet peak load hours. These two units are housed in a building across the railroad tracks from the Marshall Power Plant.
