"Providing Hometown Reliability"
Unit 3 is a 4 MW steam turbine that was installed in 1946. This unit operates very little. Natural gas is its only fuel. Proper startup requires about 18 hours. It is the least efficient unit to run. Historically, it has been a very reliable source of power. In the past few years, major work has been done to the boiler, such as asbestos removal, new boiler controls and new flame safety equipment. A new oxygen analyzer was put on the unit in April of 1997, and a new cooling tower was installed in 1995. This unit is being evaluated for removal.
