Electric line workers return from Gulf

Marshall Municipal Utilities electric line workers restored power to Louisiana residents and businesses devastated by Hurricane Rita

October 11, 2005:
Three local electric line workers returned home on October 1 after helping the city of Lafayette, Louisiana restore power to residents and businesses devastated by Hurricane Rita.

The Marshall Municipal Utilities workers, James Kearney, Gary Harlow, and Steve Hayob, went with two utility trucks to Lafayette on September 23. They were joined by line workers from Columbia, Independence, Fulton, Poplar Bluff, Trenton, Rolla, Macon, and Hannibal. Their help was requested by the American Public Power Association.

"I'm proud of our employees and their willingness to help others," said Paul Jensen, General Manager of MMU, speaking of the three returning line workers as well as the number of other MMU employees who have volunteered to help in the Gulf Coast region.
