"Providing Hometown Reliability"
The Board of Public Works convened the regular session at 8:30 a.m. at the Marshall Municipal Utilities Business Office. Present were Spencer Fricke, President; Charles Hird, Vice President; Mike Mills, Secretary; and Jim Heinzler, member.
The agenda was approved as presented. On a motion by Mr. Heinzler, seconded by Mr. Mills, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as printed.
Mr. Mills suggested that MMU might be able to help with the Fitzgibbon Cancer Center fund raising campaign by buying portable imaging and recording equipment and donating the equipment to the Fitzgibbon Cancer Center. Refunding the cost of relocating a water main at the hospital and using that cost as an “in kind” donation to the Cancer Center fundraising campaign was also discussed. Management will continue to investigate options for contributing to the Fitzgibbon Hospital Cancer Center fundraising campaign.
Environmental Services Director Ginny Ismay reported the 15-day extension for having an executed contract for construction of the disinfection facility at the Water Treatment Plant was granted by EPA. The contract was signed by all parties and finalized June 4, 2008. There will be a preconstruction meeting with the contractor June 20, 2008. A contract with Shafer, Kline & Warren for engineering to cover the construction phase of the project will also be discussed.
Electric Production Director Jim Johnson reported Unit #5 was put on-line June 9, 2008. Unit #4 will be put on-line June 11, 2008. Units #10 and #11 have been running several days since the beginning of June.
Underground Facilities Director Monty Chase reported the contractors for the South Odell sewer project have started the cleanup work for this project, but the rain has delayed their progress.
Administrative Services Director Ken Gieringer reported 450 electric meters were installed for the automatic metering reading system test project. A representative of Trilliant will be here next week to test the system.
The following bids were opened June 2, 2008, for the North Street Substation project.

These bids are being evaluated by MMU management and by Lutz, Daily and Brain engineers.
General Manager Kyle Gibbs reported the new Safety and Training Officer is scheduled to begin work at the end of June. An office for this position is being constructed at the MMU Business Office and a search is being conducted for an appropriate vehicle for this employee.
General Manager Gibbs reported a meeting is being held this afternoon with ConAgra representatives to discuss ConAgra’s plans for a loading dock addition.
On a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Heinzler, accounts payable were approved and warrants ordered issued from the following funds:

On a motion by Mr. Hird, seconded by Mr. Heinzler, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn the regular meeting at 9:21 a.m.
