"Providing Hometown Reliability"
The Board of Public Works convened the regular session at 8:30 a.m. at the Marshall Municipal Utilities Business Office. Present were Jim Heinzler, President; Spencer Fricke, Vice President; Charles Hird, Secretary; and Mike Mills, member.
The agenda was approved as presented. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as printed on a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Fricke.
Electric Production Director Jim Johnson reported Units #10 and #11 have been running approximately 12 hours a day and Units #4 and #5 have been running continually and at full load 20 out of 24 hours.
The Board indicated there is a need to make MMU’s customers aware, through the radio and newspaper, of the need to conserve electricity during the peak hours of the day, especially during the hot weather.
Electric Distribution Director Jeff Bergstrom reported the loads are being monitored due to the hot weather.
General Manager Kyle Gibbs reported Union Pacific Railroad has requested an Option for Easement for an area of land near the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Union Pacific would have until December 31, 2007, to exercise the option and sign the Easement Deed. On a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Hird, the Board approved a request to the City Council to authorize Mayor Latimer to execute the Option for Easement with Union Pacific Railroad and the Easement Deed, if Union Pacific exercises the option for the easement by December 31, 2007.
On a motion by Mr. Hird, seconded by Mr. Fricke, accounts payable were approved and warrants ordered issued from the following funds:
WATER OPERATING FUND $ 114,304.49 ELECTRIC OPERATING FUND $ 924,617.20 SEWER REVENUE FUND $ 216,886.19 INTERNET OPERATING FUND $ 8,472.78 NATURAL GAS OPERATING FUND $ 136.23 ELECTRIC CONSUMERS DEPOSIT FUND $ 4,000.00
On a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Fricke, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn the regular meeting at 8:58 a.m. to go into an executive session to discuss matters related to property acquisition and personnel matters, (Mo. Rev. Stat. 610.021 [2, 3], if authorized).
